| Biography In 1968, Dennis Eavenson moved to Atlanta, GA to enter The Atlanta College of Art. In 1972 he received a Bachelor of Fine Art with a concentration in painting and printmaking. Instructors Anthony Greco, a realist painter and Ed Ross, a minimalist painter, guided his undergraduate direction. Artworks created during this period explored color field, color optics, conceptual art, symbolic realism, surrealism and abstract expressionism. Continuing his education, Dennis received a Masters of Fine Art from The University of South Carolina in 1975. There he studied with the respected British lyrical abstract painter, Derek Southall. Dennis also taught fundamental art courses and art history during graduate school. His predominant style was lyrical abstract expressionism and one of his graduate works was purchased by The South Carolina State Art Collection. Upon graduating Dennis secured a graphic position with Chamblee Screenprint, an Atlanta based silk screen printing company, as the art department manager. For the next 10 years he worked for them and enhanced his knowledge of printmaking and refined his business skills. Meanwhile, Sharon finished Georgia State University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Visual Art. Entering the work arena as graphic artist with Southeastern Label Inc., the sister company of Chamblee Screenprint, Sharon quickly advanced to Art Department Manager. She met Dennis there while working on company related projects. In 1980 Sharon resigned from Southeastern Label to take a position as a graphic artist and illustrator with an Atlanta based advertising agency, Sumner, Inc. Sharon and Dennis continued their friendship and in 1981 Sharon left Sumner to start a graphic art business called Alloy, Inc. with Dennis. In 1984 they married and have continued to collaborate as artists on both commercial and fine art projects. Alloy, Inc. grew during the next decade while Sharon and Dennis continued with outside positions. Dennis resigned from Chamblee Screenprint and filled a position with Designs With Scissors, a manufacturer of wall decor. As Art Director and Artist, Dennis produced more than 300 open edition water color artworks while at DWS. These artworks were published as offset lithographs and lasercut to simulate the ancient process of scissorcutting. They were marketed in the country collectible market and sold throughout the USA, Canada, Spain and Japan. Due to the large volume of work, Sharon often assisted Dennis as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer. She is a co-authored over 60 DWS watercolor paintings and also provided graphics, photography services and produced sales material during this period. Dennis left DWS in 1998 and continued to build Alloy, Inc. In 2004 Dennis and Sharon decided to refuel their fine art careers. Current works include painting, mixed media, photography and more. Dennis has had twenty five group exhibits and Sharon’s exhibitions are growing. Their recent work falls into the pop surreal and symbolic representational movements with strong elements of abstract expressionism. They refer to this style as “Pop Fusion” and are promoting their work with a strong online presence, entry into art competions, art fairs, juried exhibits and brick and mortar gallery shows. They are currently represented by Ico Gallery in TriBeca New York City. |
